Player Rating System

Understanding how individual player ratings are calculated

How Player Rating Works

FCPitch uses an ELO-based rating system for 1v1 matches. Your rating updates after each match based on the result and your opponent's strength.

📊 Skill Rating

Your main rating that reflects your overall skill level. Starting rating: 1000

🎯 Season Rating

Seasonal rating that determines club assignment for the next season

Rating System Types

Skill Rating (Main Rating)

Your main rating that reflects your overall skill level in 1v1 matches.

How it works:

  • Starting rating: 1000 points
  • Updates: After each match
  • System: ELO-based system
  • Factors: Match result and opponent's rating
Beating a stronger opponent:

You gain more points if you beat a player with a higher rating

Losing to a weaker opponent:

You lose more points if you lose to a player with a lower rating

📅 Season Rating (Seasonal Rating)

Rating calculated for the entire season that determines club assignment for the next season.

How it works:

  • Calculation: Based on all matches in the season
  • Factors: Takes into account your club's rating and opponents
  • Assignment: Higher Season Rating = better club next season
  • Balance: System accounts for club strength for fairness

💡 Important: Season Rating considers not only wins/losses but also your club's strength. This ensures fair conditions for all players regardless of assigned club.

How Rating Changes

Rating updates after each match based on the result and rating difference with your opponent.

✅ Win

You gain points. The higher your opponent's rating, the more points you gain.

⚖️ Draw

Rating changes minimally, depending on opponent's rating.

❌ Loss

You lose points. The lower your opponent's rating, the more points you lose.

💡 Example: If your rating is 1200 and your opponent's is 1000, and you win - you'll gain fewer points than if you beat an opponent with a 1400 rating. This ensures system fairness.
